            This is a famous quote from a Sci-Fi Author Arthur C. Clarke that tries to say that the presence of aliens in our universe might be dangerous to humans but the absence of aliens in this vast universe is also an equal thing. Alone humankind in this huge universe is a terrific thing. For a long time, humans and scientists are trying to contact aliens or Extra-terrestrials (E.T.).

            These Alien Hunters and Astronomers have equipped with specialized instruments to detect the presence of ETs. The weapon here I am pointing towards is called a Telescope. The telescope has enabled us to peep into the universe where we cannot visit with present-time technology. There exist many types of telescopes like optical and radio, etc.

Optical telescope

            The optical telescopes are the ones by which we can see the stars, celestial bodies, and can ramble in the nearby universe. One such telescope is the Hubble Space Telescope of NASA. It revolves in an orbit at the height of 547 kilometers from Earth. Hubble has captured many images of different galaxies and celestial bodies and sent us. Scientists have acquired lots of information about the universe outside our Solar System and the Milky Way.

            But, we have something more powerful than those of optical telescopes. Radio Telescopes are instruments that work efficiently when it comes to catching the different signals coming from space. The construction of Radio Telescope is different from Optical telescopes. Radio Telescope catches the waves of different frequencies and processes in supercomputers to detect the origins of the radio signal. The Radio Telescopes looks like an upside-down umbrella with an antenna at the center that helps in catching the radio signal. We all have seen television dishes for channels, the Radio Telescopes are the same as TV dishes but are different in size. (There are many differences but here we are just trying to understand the construction and shape of Radio Telescopes).

            Many celestial objects send out electro-magnetic waves of different wavelengths and frequencies. This can be detected by these Radio Telescopes and can be used to identify the object from which it had originated.

            We have received a radio signal before some days via a radio telescope situated in Australia. Let's talk about it in detail.

A missed call from Extra Terrestrials!!!

            Many space lovers have invested in building personal radio telescopes and there are many radio telescopes present on Earth that can detect a small change happening in far galaxies. In an Australian province, New South Wales there is a town named Parkes. In this town, there is a radio telescope situated known as ‘The Parkes.’ The Parkes has a diameter of 220 feet. This radio telescope ‘The Parkes’ received a radio signal from far space! The radio signal had a frequency of 982.02 MHz and this radio signal was captured for three hours by the receiver. We have never received this kind of radio signal from space.

            Something is interesting in this incident and that is the address of these radio signals. The doubt goes on Proxima Centauri present at the distance of 4.25 light-years away from the Earth. The doubt had aroused due to the beam angle of the radio signal. The radio signal came from a circle within 16 arc minutes in angular diameter. These 16 arc minute circle also contains Proxima Centauri and that is why we are speculating about the origin of the radio signal to be coming from Proxima Centauri.

Proxima Centauri:

            The Proxima Centauri present at a distance of 4.25 light-years (i.e., if you travel at the speed of light= 300,000 km/s then it will take 4.25 years to reach there). However, it has named Proxima because it is the nearest neighbor of our home planet Earth. We will need millions of years to reach there with current speed technology.

            Around the Proxima Centauri star, two planets revolve known as Proxima B and Proxima C. The Proxima B planet is very likely to the Earth and has a rock-solid constitution the same as Earth. The Earth has established life because the Earth is present in the Habitable Zone. A habitable zone is a safe distance from the parent star which enhances the possibility of life development on a planet. The Earth is at the perfect distance to support life and that is why plants and animals and all other organisms can survive here on Earth. By chance, if the earth was even close to 5% closer to the Sun then the oceans would have evaporated and if it was farther then oceans would have frozen. The Proxima B planet has the same condition as Earth and it is also present in the Habitable Zone of Proxima Centauri. The distance between the Proxima Centauri star and Proxima B is enough to support life.

            The Sun came into existence 4.6 billion years ago whereas Proxima Centauri was born 4.8 billion years ago. The scientists are speculating the same scenario (existence of life and evolution) that happened on Earth also might have happened on Proxima Centauri. If this speculation might be right then there is a possibility that ETs might have invented Radio telescopes. The radio signal from space could be from there. There are many other possibilities but the Proxima Centauri has the most chances.
