M.S. Dhoni
Hello everyone,
This generation is passing through a lot and here we go with another heartbreaking news. Dhoni announced his retirement from 1929 hours of August 15, 2020.
We have seen him playing cricket and finishing the match like a boss. An era has been ended with this news. He brings too much pride and glory to the Indian Cricket Team. His captaincy and team spirit made me his fan.I am neither fond of watching cricket nor I love cricket. Although I am a fan of M.S. just because of his coolness and ability to make decisions.
I remember watching him playing in the 2011 World Cup. It was against Sri Lanka. I was in my hostel and we were watching the match in our mess. We were sitting at the tables and it was almost midnight. I fell asleep during the match because we were watching it the whole day. Another reason for my sleep was that I was neither much interested in watching cricket then nor now. I woke up because everyone became excited. After all, we were on the edge of winning. I was lucky that I woke up early and I watched him live to finish the match. He shot six and everyone started to dance at our dining table. I didn't understand then, but I started dancing too. We started throwing salt and scattering it all over the dining table. We celebrated the winning by throwing salt everywhere. We didn't have any other things like crackers to celebrate at that time. We all were excited and dancing like we have conquered everything. That night I came to know that, there is a player who is known as "The Finisher".I admire him because of his captaincy, decision-making skill, and fitness. Under his captaincy, he made many records and lead the team to the trophies. He is the only captain who has won all the formats of cricket. His decision-making skill is outstanding. If the umpire gets confused, he takes a glance at MS. If MS says, a batsman is out, then it's definitely out.
When we talk about his fitness, it was incomparable too. At the age of 37, he ran as fast as a 25-year-old. He never tried to hide his real age. His look always said his real age and for fans, age doesn't matter. No matter how old he gets, he will have the love and support of his fans.
Who knew that a boy from Ranchi, who could do well as a goalkeeper in football can be a king of cricket. One of his teachers recommended him to play cricket as a wicketkeeper. He woke his interest in cricket which made him the uncrowned king of cricket.
Since World Cup 2019, Dhoni fans were expecting his news of retirement. No fan wanted this, neither do I. I wanted him to play and continue to amaze his fans with his abilities and talents. The full form of DRS is the Decision Review System. It was renamed to Dhoni Review System just because of his ability to detect the upcoming decision before the umpire can detect it.
His record of fastest stumping makes all of us amazed. He took just 0.08 seconds for stumping. It was against Australia and the batsman was George Bailey. No one will ever forget this record and no one might break this record. He made India proud in cricket and in other areas as well. He was awarded India's fourth-highest civilian award Padma Shri in 2009. Later on, in 2019 he was awarded India's third highest civilian award Padma Bhushan. Also, he was awarded India's highest honor in sports achievements, Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna. He was conferred with the position of Lieutenant-Colonel in the Indian territorial army in 2011. He is truly a gem and we are proud of him.
His number 7 and coolness will always be missed by us. He will be missed on the grounds. Though fans will be waiting eagerly to see your game in IPL 2020.
