Mass Promotion

Hello everyone,

Today I am going to talk on a topic about mass promotion to the final year students. What I am going to write here, perhaps some students won't like it but that shouldn't mean I won't write those points. 

Do I favour mass promotion?

I am totally against mass promotion and favoring the conduction of the exam. That was a different time when corona was at its peak but as lockdown has been unlocked and now we are much safer than before, it's feasible now to conduct the exams. 

I am going to talk about both the sides of a coin. Many students wanted that exams should be postponed until and unless the situation gets any better. We would rather accept the fact, that situation won't get as perfect as before, but it's safer than before. So, now is the time that universities can take the exams. 

Why I am against mass promotion?

Some of the students wanted mass promotion because of the pandemic. The mass promotion was given to those who were studying in the first and second years. I was afraid because I knew that mass promotion won't get us any job. Because without exams and with mass promotion, most companies do not favor the candidate. I personally do not encourage mass promotion and don't want it. I received many petitions to sign, which were applying for mass promotion. I received many messages which were about mass promotion. I feel that mass promotion can be given to those who are in the first or second year but not to the final year students. And most of the students are ready to wait a year for the exam but we don't want the mass promotion. 

I am saying this because of our judging system. Don't think that I am a nerd who depends upon exam to showcase myself. Because, wherever you go, you will be judged by your marks and exam performance. You won't be judged by your skills and talents. They won't care if you can do something creative and extraordinary, they care about what you got in your damn mark sheet. If you don't have 7+ grade points you're a dumb nerd to them. I didn't have 7+ grade points in my first year and for everyone, I was a dumb student. When I managed to score 7+, suddenly everyone deemed that  I was someone who can understand everything in the classroom. That's why I am favoring exams and mark sheet, otherwise, I don't value those paper on which marks and grade points are written instead of your skills and talents. 

On Thursday, UGC (University Grants Commission) had filed an affidavit which states that "Final year's exams should be taken by universities until the September end." Also, UGC had opposed the decisions taken by the Maharashtra and Delhi government to turn down the final year exam. Education officer Dr. Nikhil Kumar had stated that "UGC is an independent organization and responsible for conduction of exams in universities. The state government has no rights to cancel the exams." 

Now it became too complicated how the exams can be organized? We got the information from our university that "Every student has to attend the exam in their respective colleges." The only problem is traveling. Many students will have to move and travel across the states which will increase the risk of spreading the disease. All the students must have to travel with the utmost care and attention. 

Conclusion: Now is the time when everyone should act, students and universities, to secure the future without wasting the time. We had already wasted our five months because of a pandemic. It's as almost as half-year. We shouldn't waste much time and get to act with the care that we can't get the virus.  We don't get anything by sitting at home and doing nothing. So, I request those students to relinquish the protest against exams and start study. Because sooner or later we all have to attend the exam and be judged through it. So, why not now?
