Hathras Case in UP
Hello everyone,
Since Independence, we are believing in the sentence “Mera
Bharat Mahan.” But it is unfortunate for us that this sentence is no longer
applicable to us. I don’t know if some of the readers will agree to this or
they might be angry about this but it’s high time that one should clarify that we are
not entitled to the sentence “Mera Bharat Mahan.” I am saying this because a
heinous crime happened in Hathras of Uttar Pradesh. The Hathras Case in UP has
raised a chatter against the laws and amendments. I am not here to find or
point out the flaws of the government or police. My responsibility as a citizen is
to suggest possible solutions. The UP government should now take strict steps
for this Hathras case to stop barbaric crimes that might take place in the future.
I have come up with 5 probable solutions that might reduce or get us rid of
these types of heinous crimes. The Hathras case in UP indicates that we are not
“Mahan" anymore. We should correct the flaws in ourselves to correct the flaws of the country and then we might become great or “Mahan.” But if such crimes continue, we will become
neither “Mahan” nor superpower.
A 19-year-old girl was brutally raped and murdered by
criminals. In the Hathras case victim's body was cremated without the permission of the victim’s family by UP police. This is really shameful for us and for every
single Indian. The victim was murdered, but before she was brutally raped and
criminals cut her tongue and broke her spinal cord. She battled against this
pain for 17 days and finally, that innocent little soul lost her battle against
it.
The accused criminals are arrested and a case has been filed
against them. This incident took place on date 14 September and we are getting
to know this after 15 days. The news and media are showing that irrelevant news for TRP. No news channel I have seen covering this sensitive issue. Though
there is no point in writing all this because everyone will now upload status
and make the hashtags trend on Twitter and will show momentary outrage. There
will be rallies and candle marches for this case. But once this case will cool
down everyone will forget about Hathras' case until another case will happen in
any corner of India.
The Hathras court case status is that accused had been
arrested and is under police custody. The Hathras court case status should be
updated fast and the decision should be made as soon as possible. The trials should
be made as short as possible and criminals should be strictly punished.
Before in Nirbhaya Case, the same thing happened and most of the people forgot about her case like nothing had happened. It was not until 2019
that everyone once again remembered Nirbhaya's case when her mother was on the
verge of getting the final decision of the court. By the grace of God and her mother’s
patience, she received justice.
I can think of 5 possible solutions that might correct and
rectify the current condition. This Rape culture should be ended as soon as
possible before it reaches our own home. This rape culture in India is too
toxic and it should end. Because we have the most ancient culture and this
rape culture is not one of it.
Solution 1: Education
I always suggest the option of education as a solution to any
of the problems. The rape culture can be ended by educating the people. It makes
everyone aware that rape is a heinous crime and the conviction for this is
hazardous for them. Although there are many cases where an educated and
well-mannered person was involved in this type of crime. This type of crime
took place because of the ephemeral and momentary decisions of criminals.
A well-educated person thinks before what they are going to
commit. This is how education plays an important role in curing this rape culture condition.
Solution 2: Basic Defense
Another option as a solution is that every school should
have basic defense training as part of their school program for both
genders. Before they left school they should have the ability to defend
themselves in these types of conditions.
The defense program should be included in the syllabus itself
and should compulsory to conduct the drills and practice for basic defense.
This enhances the chances of the escape of the victim from the criminal. This basic
defense might prove as a savior in such conditions as a constraint.
Solution 3: Effective response from Police
The police department should give an effective response to
those who come to report a crime in case of rape instead of accusing them in the first place. Many times police held victims responsible for the crime from which the victim is suffering. This should be strictly forbidden.
The rape case should given priority and the investigation should
start in the time of calculation. The victim and family should have full
support and backup from the government and police. This encourages them to report crimes against criminals. Many crimes go unnoticed due to fear of police.
Many victims thought and are afraid of police that they might get into trouble
and police will in turn held themselves responsible for the cause.
This should not be tolerated and effective response at all
levels should be given to the rape cases.
Solution 4: Fast trials in courts
Many victims and their families do not report the crime
against them because of the long runtime of trials. Even if we talk about the Nirbhaya
case, it took 7 years for justice to served to Nirbhaya and her family even it was
open and shut case. The poor family with no financial background generally terminates the thoughts of crime reporting because they think that it will cost them much money and justice might not be served them soon. The other thought they got is that, the longer the trial runs, the more they have to spend money and it cost them much. So, trials for rape cases should be made run faster and justice should be served as soon as possible at the lowest of cost.
The trials and investigation should be abbreviated and done as
fast as possible in rape cases.
Solution 5: Exemplary Punishment
The strict punishment like death penalty or life
imprisonment. The punishment should be one that sets an example. A punishment
like that which frightens the criminal before they actually commit the crime.
It should make criminals think that if they might be proven guilty for the crime
there would be severe consequences.
Do you know what are the punishments for rape in various countries? Here are some punishment listed:
Saudi Arabia: Beheading within days.
China: Castration or the death penalty.
North Korea: Death by Firing Squad.
Afghanistan: Shot in the head or Death by hanging.
Iran: Shot to death in public.
India: Trials until criminal turns aged and died as natural cause (realistic irony).
India has the death penalty or life imprisonment as a
punishment for criminals if found guilty in lifelong running trials. The
exemplary punishments should be given in counting time which can really reduce
such barbaric, heinous crimes like Hathras case in UP.
Conclusion: There are many more solutions for resolving the issue of rape cases but I found these 5 more effective. The Hathras case in UP should be solved as soon as possible and justice should be served to the victim and her family. We pray for her that her soul may rest in peace with heaven. God heals her every pain and gives condolences to the family. These five solutions EDUCATION, BASIC DEFENSE, EFFECTIVE RESPONSE, FAST RUNNING TRIALS and EXEMPLARY PUNISHMENT should be implied to deal with such rape cases. One more important aspect that the backups like acquaintances of MLAs or politicians should be neglected. The acquaintance plays a major role in the survival of criminals in India. Those should also be punished who support the criminals or provide the backup.
