India in Space: Part 2
Hello everyone,
After the CoVID lockdown, the first launch of ISRO has been successfully
done. ISRO had sent 10 satellites into their respective orbits. I wrote about
this before and predicted somewhat like what happened on November 7, 2020. I
wrote that "India is now helping other countries to ascend their satellites
into space." Once there was a time when we were taking the help of other
developed countries like Russia and The United States for launching our
satellites. We were fully dependent upon them for launching. Now, look, where we
have reached! The countries on which we were dependent are now asking for our
launching vehicles to launch their satellites. The credit goes to the brilliant
and hard-working scientists of ISRO. Although this launch was going to take
place earlier due to the CoVID pandemic, it got delayed. But, after all this we
made it.
A paragraph from "India in Space" |
ISRO launched 9 satellites from customer nations, US (4
satellites), Luxembourg (4 satellites), and Lithuania (1 satellite) under
commercial arrangement with NewSpace India Limited (MSIL). The remaining 1
satellite out of 10 launched by ISRO belongs to India itself. ISRO successfully
launched EOS-01 (Earth Observation Satellite) belongs to INDIA.
ISRO had launched all these
satellites using Polar Satellite Launching Vehicle (PSLV-C49). This was the 51st
flight of PSLV carrying 9 customer satellites along with 1 Indian satellite
from Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC) SHAR, Sriharikota.
PSLV lifted off at 3:12 pm IST
from the first launch pad SHAR, Sriharikota. The time determined for the launch
was at 3:02 pm IST, but due to bad weather and debris in the flight path, the
launch was delayed for 10 minutes. The Indian satellite EOS-01 was successfully
injected into orbit after 15 minutes and 20 seconds i.e. at 3:34 pm IST. Other
satellites were injected subsequently after it.
“PSLV-C49 successfully placed all
ten satellites precisely into their 575 km orbit.” Said Dr. K. Sivan (ISRO
Chief).
DO YOU KNOW?
This was the 51st launch of PSLV, the 76th launch vehicle mission form SDSC, Sriharikota and 38th lunch from the first launch pad at SHAR.
Various Satellites Launched By ISRO:
1) Lithuania (1 Satellite)
The satellite from Lithuania was a technology demonstrator
called as R2 satellite.
2) Luxembourg (4 Satellites)
The 4 satellites from Luxembourg were Kleos (KSM
1A/1B/1C/1D) for the purpose of the maritime application.
3) The United States (4 Satellites)
The Lemur satellites (Lemur 1/2/3/4) were launched along
with the satellites mentioned above for the multi-mission remote sensing
application.
4) India (EOS-01 Satellite)
The Earth Observation Satellite (EOS-01) was launched in its
orbit for the purpose of applications in agriculture, forestry, and disaster
management support.
The EOS-01 was formerly known as RISAT-2BR2 is an X-Band and SAR (Synthetic-Aperture RADAR) based
Earth Imaging Satellite. The satellite belongs to Indian Space Research
Organization (ISRO). It was developed by ISRO at the cost of roughly 125 Crores
(the US $18 million). The weight of the satellite is about 630 kg.
After the successful launch of satellites our Prime Minister
Narendra Modi congratulated Indian scientists on the medium of Twitter. After
getting the news like this, we can proudly say that “Mera Desh Badal Raha hai…
Aage Badh Raha hai.”
Conclusion: In the times of CoVID, we have taken a step forward and shown the world that “WE INDIANS ARE NOTHING BUT THE BEST.” All the credit goes to ISRO chief Dr. K. Sivan and his fellow scientists whose hard work and selfless effort made this possible. We should take a moment to appreciate them. They have made India’s future bright.
